Plain QR code or AvisBonus wheel?
The QR code you just made does the basic job: it takes the customer to the review window. The AvisBonus wheel adds what a static QR code cannot do.
Plain QR code (free)
- Opens the review window of your Google listing
- Gives the customer no reason to scan it right now
- No tracking: you do not know how many customers scanned it
- One fixed message that cannot be changed
AvisBonus wheel
- The customer scans, plays the wheel and may win a gift from your business
- A fun moment that makes people scan now instead of later
- Scan and play statistics in your dashboard
- Prizes, texts and visuals editable at any time, without reprinting the QR code
Google-compliant: the gift is never conditional on leaving a review, nor on its content or rating.
How to create a free Google review QR code
Find your business
Type your business name and city, then pick your listing. You can also paste a Google Maps link.
Customise it
Pick a colour, turn on the centre star if you like and add frame text such as "Leave us a review".
Download it
Download the QR code as a PNG (1024 px) for documents, or as an SVG for sharp printing at any size.
Test, then display it
Scan the QR code with your phone to check that it opens the review window, then print it and display it at the till, on tables or on receipts.
A QR code that opens the review window directly
This QR code does not point to your Google Maps listing: it opens the "Write a review" window directly. The customer scans, enters a rating and a comment, without searching for your business or the right button. Fewer steps means fewer chances to give up.
For this to work, the link must contain the official identifier of your place (the Place ID). The tool finds it for you from your business name.
Where to display your QR code
Wherever customers have a moment and their phone in hand: at the counter next to the till, on tables, on receipts and invoices, on the shop window or in your thank-you email. Add a frame with short text, and keep a light margin around the QR code.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this QR code really free?
- Yes. It is free, with no signup, no watermark and no time limit: the QR code stays valid as long as your Google listing exists.
- Where does this QR code send the customer?
- Straight to the "Write a review" window of your Google listing, using your business's Place ID. Customers do not have to search for your listing.
- Which format should I pick, PNG or SVG?
- PNG (1024 px) suits documents, social media and everyday printing. SVG is a vector format: it stays sharp at any size, ideal for a shop window or a large poster.
- How big should I print the QR code?
- Allow at least 2 to 3 cm per side for scanning at short range, more if people scan from further away. Keep a light background around it and a dark colour for the code.
- Can I offer a reward in exchange for a review?
- Not in exchange for a review: Google forbids it, just like fake reviews. You can ask every customer for a review and offer a gift to all of them, with no condition tied to having left a review, nor to its content or rating.
- Does the QR code expire?
- No. The QR code simply contains the address of the review link: it depends on no third-party service and will not stop working. It only changes if your Google listing is deleted or moved.
- What does the AvisBonus wheel add to a QR code?
- A plain QR code asks for a review but gives no reason to do it now and measures nothing. The wheel adds a game with a gift from your business, plus scan statistics. It is the better choice if you want to track your results.
