Tutorial: build your Google review wheel in 10 minutes

Four steps to launch a rewards game that gets customers to leave a Google review: from creating your account to following the results.

  1. Step 1

Create your account and your first wheel

Go to the sign-up page, create your account, then start building your wheel. Give it your business name and pick colours that look like you: the wheel is the first thing customers will see.

This step needs no technical skill. The wheel can be edited at any time, so you can start simple and refine later.

Tip: Keep your brand colours: a recognisable wheel inspires more trust.

  2. Step 2

Add your Google review link and your prizes

Paste the link that opens the "Write a review" window of your Google listing directly. If you do not have it, the free link generator builds it for you.

Next, define your slots: between 4 and 12. Each slot is a prize, such as a coffee, a discount or a free dessert. Slots are drawn at random with equal chances, with no probability setting.

Tip: To make a prize come up more often, put it on several slots. Choose low-cost prizes so the game stays worthwhile.

  3. Step 3

Share your wheel with a QR code or a link

Once the wheel is saved, you get a share link. Turn it into a QR code that customers scan at the table, the counter or the till, or send it by SMS or email after the visit.

For a physical display, our printable table tent lets you create a foldable table sign with your QR code in a few clicks, in A6, A5 or A4.

Tip: Put the QR code where customers wait: table, till or receipt. Waiting time is the best moment to play.

  4. Step 4

    Follow your results on Google

The dashboard shows how many times your wheel was viewed. To measure the real effect, watch your reviews directly in your Google Business Profile: review count, average rating and frequency.

Reply to every new review. Our free reply generator gives you a starting point, and the star simulator shows in which month your rating will reach your goal.

Tip: Note your review count before launch so you can compare after three months.

Why use a wheel to collect reviews

Asking for a review out loud rarely works: customers are in a hurry, shy or simply distracted. A game changes the dynamic. The customer has a concrete reason to act, a possible prize, and the action feels like a pleasant moment rather than a chore. The result is more reviews, and more regularly.

A reward wheel does not need to be sophisticated. A few well-chosen slots, a review link that opens in one tap and a visible display are enough to make the difference.

What you need before you start

Three things are enough: an up-to-date Google Business Profile, the link that opens the review window, and a list of small prizes you can easily give out. Also plan a display: a QR code on the table, at the counter or on the receipt, or a message after the visit.

Allow about ten minutes to set everything up. The wheel can be edited afterwards: changing a prize, adjusting colours or adding a slot needs no reprint as long as you share the same link.

Best practices for better results

Choose simple, real prizes you genuinely keep in stock: a coffee, a dessert, a discount on the next visit. Brief your team in one sentence, for example "scan and try to win a gift", so everyone makes the same offer.

Keep it short and visible: a catchy headline on the display, a link that opens in one tap and a clearly announced prize. Many authentic reviews from real customers are worth more in the long run than a few isolated compliments.

Which prizes to choose so the game stays worthwhile

Aim for an average cost of a few cents per player. Mix small, frequent prizes such as a coffee or a biscuit with one more attractive prize on a single slot, such as ten percent off. The customer sees a generous wheel while you keep control of your budget. If a prize turns out too expensive, simply swap it in the wheel without changing any display you have already printed.

After launch

Check your Google listing once a week during the first month. Notice which times of day produce the most scans and adjust where your displays sit. A better-placed table tent can be enough to double the flow.

When reviews come in, reply to them: it signals seriousness to future customers and keeps up the relationship with the people who played along.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to build a wheel?

About ten minutes: create the account, add your Google review link and define the prizes.

How many slots can the wheel have?

Between 4 and 12. Each slot has the same chance of being drawn; to favour a prize, duplicate it across several slots.

How do customers reach the wheel?

Through a share link, which you can turn into a QR code on a table tent, receipt or shop window, or send by message.

Where do I see my new reviews?

Directly in your Google Business Profile. The AvisBonus dashboard shows wheel views, not the reviews themselves.

Do I have to give a prize to everyone?

You decide the prizes and how they are spread over the wheel. Choose low-cost prizes so the game stays worthwhile.
